How do I know a company in Lebanon will still be operating in six months?
Pharmagen Recruit is the remote-talent division of Pharmagen, an operating healthcare-services company in Beirut. We are not a two-person agency built around this one service; the parent company runs day to day whether or not any single placement continues. That matters because you contract with Pharmagen Recruit as a managed service, and the professional is engaged by us in Lebanon — so continuity is our obligation, not something you have to manage. The commercial terms reflect the same thinking: a 90-day minimum term, then month to month. If we stopped being useful, you could walk away within weeks. We would rather earn the renewal every month than lock anyone in.
Is this HIPAA compliant?
For most of our roles the question does not arise. Regulatory affairs, medical writing, biostatistics and quality work run on submission documents, aggregate tables and de-identified datasets, so nothing that counts as protected health information (PHI) is handled at all. Where a role does touch patient data — billing, prior authorisation, administrative work — we sign a Business Associate Agreement before any access is granted, access runs through your systems only, and each person gets minimum-necessary access. HIPAA compliance is a shared obligation between you and us rather than a badge either side can claim alone, so we set out exactly what we do on our data page and put it in writing before a placement starts.
Won't the IRS treat this person as my employee?
The structure is designed so that question does not land on you. You contract with Pharmagen Recruit as a managed service. The professional is engaged by Pharmagen Recruit in Lebanon: we are the party that engages them and remains responsible for them. You do not hire them or put them on your payroll; you receive an invoice from a single vendor for a service, on the same footing as any other outsourced service your organisation buys. Because every organisation's situation differs, we lay the structure out in the agreement so your advisers can review it. This is not tax advice — your accountant should confirm how it applies to you.
Why Lebanon and not the Philippines?
Philippine providers compete on price; we do not. We place people in healthcare roles that need judgement and precise written English. Our candidates hold degrees from Lebanese universities accredited by US accreditors: the American University of Beirut is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and chartered by the State of New York; the Lebanese American University is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education. They studied in English, on an American curriculum. And Beirut is seven hours ahead of New York, so covering 8am to 4pm Eastern is an evening shift for our staff, not a night shift. People stay in an evening shift. That retention is the real difference.
What if the person quits?
We replace the person. Because the professional is engaged by Pharmagen Recruit in Lebanon rather than hired by you, a resignation is our problem to solve, not a vacancy on your books. We run the same process we ran the first time — a shortlist of two to three screened candidates within ten days — and we handle the handover on our side. The replacement terms are set out in writing before the placement starts, so there is nothing to negotiate at the moment it happens. We also work to make this rare: evening-shift hours, a stable local employer and healthcare-specific roles are why our people tend to stay.
Will the time difference work?
Yes — it is one reason the model works at all. Beirut is seven hours ahead of New York. Our staff cover 8am to 4pm US Eastern every working day, which is 3pm to 11pm in Beirut: an evening shift, not a night shift. That distinction matters. Night shifts burn people out and they leave; evening shifts are sustainable, which is why our people stay. From your side, the person is online for your full working day, in your meetings and answering in real time — no overnight hand-off, no waiting until tomorrow for a reply. If your team runs on Central or Pacific time, tell us on the first call and we will confirm what coverage looks like.
